Canada Goose—photos and links

The Cackling Goose was declared a species separate from the similarly plumaged Canada Goose in 2004.  You can see the dramatic size difference between the diminutive Cackling Goose (in the foreground) and the “giant” Canada Goose here.  You can see Cackling Geese mixed in with flocks of Canada Geese in our area in the winter.  If you see a goose that looks like a Canada Goose but is not much larger than a Mallard, you are probably looking at a Cackler!
